When it comes to progressing in your personal development journey, having ups and downs is inevitable. It comes down to how you respond to the challenging moments. In this post I’m going to give you some tips on how to trust the process because either way, you’re still going to continue progressing no matter what.
If you are a driven and motivated individual, chances are you have goals in mind that you’re looking to accomplish. Some goals take longer to attain than others, which can feel frustrating at times. The process is just as important as the destination though, as annoying as that may sound lol.
The process is what causes the most growth. You gain so many valuable lessons when you face difficult times. If the process was super easy and fast, it wouldn’t feel as exciting to achieve your goals. So learn to trust the process because it’s unique to you. Everything happens for a reason and you’ll achieve your goals in Divine timing.

Hold your vision
One of the first tips I have about how to trust the process is to remember where you’re looking to go. Having a clear vision of your goals is key because facing tough times is unavoidable. When you face the challenging moments that make you question everything, seeing your vision will bring you back on track. It will motivate you to continue pushing forward, trusting the process along the way.
Build your confidence
Now that you have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish, next is to build your self-confidence. You can do this by recognizing all of your skills and abilities related to your goal. You can also reflect on the past and write down everything you are proud of accomplishing. Another way is to collect encouraging messages from friends, clients, etc and keep them in a folder so that you can refer back to them for a boost of confidence. You have everything you need within you, you just have to recognize that yourself. By having a strong sense of self-confidence, it’ll cause you to trust the process because you’ll know you’re going to progress and get to where you want to be eventually.
Focus on what you can control
The next tip is to release the need to control everything. It is exhausting trying to control the process. The thing is, there are unlimited ways your life can unfold in any given day. Therefore, trying to control how things go can be detrimental especially if you could’ve been getting something even better than you could’ve imagined.
So focus on what you can control such as your thoughts about the process. You can meditate, journal or any way that works for you to go within. Then question your thoughts and reframe them to better serving ones. Aside from this, you can focus on staying healthy by taking care of yourself physically as well. Nourish your body well, drink lots of water and make sure you sleep more than enough.
Get 1% better each day
Similar to the previous tip, make the intention to simply get 1% better each day. This will require you to have a clear sense of your goals or intentions. Then every day take small steps towards your goals. You can use “habit stalking” to help you stay on track. For example, if you drink a morning cup of coffee or tea before you begin your day, you can keep a book in your kitchen. This can prompt you to read a few pages while drinking your morning beverage of choice. By getting 1% better each day, it’ll help to trust the process because you’ll feel good about slowly getting closer to your goals.
Celebrate wins
The next tip that’ll help trust the process is to celebrate your wins whether they’re “big” or “small.” By doing this, your brain will get satisfaction and will want to create even more wins. Celebrating them will cause you to focus on the positives, feeling like you are progressing. An example of celebrating a win is getting takeout from your favorite restaurant each time you hit a milestone.
Final thoughts
One final thought I have on how to trust the process is to avoid comparison. Everyone is on their individual path and you don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes in other peoples’ lives. It may seem like they have what you want but in reality they may even be happy. The process is one of the most important parts of your journey. Once you reach your goals, you’ll remember how you got there and possibly regret trying to rush things. So trust that everything is happening the way it’s meant to for you. Because it is.
