It’s never too late to choose to have a fresh start. You can do this at any time of the year when it feels right to you. Whether it’s switching careers, moving to someplace new, or ending/starting a relationship, you’re able to start fresh, now. In this post I’m going to give you tips on how to have a fresh start, whatever that means to you.
First, I want to wish you a happy July! We are halfway through the year so it felt fitting to choose this topic for this week’s blog. If you know me, you’ll know I’m not afraid of change or new beginnings. I’ve learned to embrace them throughout my life and it has served me well. With many changes going on in my personal life at the moment, I figured it would be the best time to share some of my best tips on how to have a fresh start!

Make the decision
The first step in having a fresh start is to make the decision to do so. It sounds self explanatory but sometimes people say or think they’ve made their decision when in reality they have one foot out the door. When duality is present (you’re saying/wanting one thing but feeling another), it’s difficult to actually move forward and progress. So make the decision without looking back.
Reflect on the past
My next tip on having a fresh start is to reflect on the past. After making the decision, go back and recognize what has worked in your life and what hasn’t. By doing this, you’ll enter this new chapter in a new light and hopefully things will go smoother for you. When you do this, please refrain from going down a negative route involving regret or self judgment. Make the effort to reflect on the past with an open mind choosing to see things differently.
Get inspired
My next tip is to look for ways to feel inspired. Having a fresh start can seem daunting, which is normal. So go out and look for evidence of others who have also chosen to have a fresh start like you. If you’re deciding to move to a new state for instance, consume content about your new city or begin joining Meetup groups or Facebook groups with people who have done something similar. By doing this, the fear can be minimized and your fresh start will seem more doable.
Another tip related to this is to go back and find evidence of when you took courageous actions in your life. Make a list of them or simply think about them. This will give you a confidence boost because it’ll remind you that if you did badass things in the past, you can do it/them again.
Speak it into existence
Another tip when choosing to have a fresh start is to speak it into existence. Talk about your intention(s) with your friends and loved ones as if it’s actually going to happen (bc it is). By doing this, it’ll feel more “real” and you’ll be held accountable because you already told people about it. Side note: when telling people, notice how you feel. Sometimes there’s internal blockages that are getting in the way from having you believe in yourself. Work through them by questioning them or working with a coach. 😉
Be intentional
My next tip is to be intentional with your actions. Stay focused on your fresh start without comparing yourself to others. Implement daily habits, continue learning or diving deeper in your chosen new path. By being intentional, you’ll prevent yourself from steering off course.
Don’t be afraid to get help
My final tip on having a fresh start is to not be afraid of asking for help. There’s so many people who “coast by” settling for less. Choosing to have a fresh start takes a lot of courage and it is normal to struggle to get started or to progress. As mentioned previously, tell people about it so they can hold you accountable. However, if you find that you need additional help, hire a coach.
Coaching will help you accelerate your journey because you’ll have a designated time and space dedicated strictly to achieving your fresh start. By working with a coach, you’ll work through the blockages getting in the way, you’ll have action steps each week and will work together to have you reach your goals.
Final thoughts
A final thought I have about having a fresh start is simply the reminder that you are worthy and deserving of it. If you stop and think about your life and realize that you’re not fully satisfied, recognize that you deserve better (without feeling guilty about it). You don’t have to have a reason or explanation to want to have a fresh start. It’s your life and you get to decide how you want to live it.
