Life is an ongoing journey and mine has brought me to serve as a Latina life coach. In this post I’ll give you the scoop on how I got here!
The beginning
Ever since I could remember, I’ve always had an innate desire to help people. I was the kid that befriended the new classmate and the one who got along with people from different “cliques.” I’ve genuinely cared about people and their stories ever since I was a little girl. I believe everyone has a story that shapes how we show up.
In school, I strived to get and graduated with good grades. I didn’t grow up with role models who looked like me but I always knew I wanted to go to college. That was the thing everyone did after high school at the time. My family moved from Illinois to Pennsylvania after my first year in high school which was pretty hard on me. At that life stage, our world consists of school and our friends. This was one of the hardest years of my life considering I was alone for the first time and had to start over in a new environment. Yet in retrospect, that was one of the most pivotal years for me.
Becoming an adult
To this day I’m not sure why I even stayed in Pennsylvania after completing high school. It was probably because as a First-Gen college student, I literally had no one to help me with the whole college process. I never visited a campus let alone know where I even wanted to go since no one in my family or immediate circle had ever gone through that process. When it came to choosing a school, I had to do it on my own. With that lack of guidance, I ended up entering college with an undeclared major. Thanks to mandatory general education classes, I discovered I enjoyed sociology and ended up graduating with a bachelor’s degree in that major.
After graduating college, I worked at different non-profit organizations because I just wanted to help people. I never knew what that would look like and in all of my jobs, I was always missing something. I lacked clarity in my career path because I never felt fulfilled at work. At the time, I didn’t know how but I knew I wanted to serve. I discovered the law of attraction during my senior year in college and began my self-development journey around that time too. Shortly after, I hired my first coach, who helped me discover that I needed to give myself permission to travel and experience a life outside my parents’ home. I got to travel during my 20s and met amazing people who opened my eyes to possibilities I didn’t know existed.
The realization
Fast forward to 2020 when the world shut down, I was working at a medical office that was not ideal for me. While the majority of people transitioned to work from home, I was expected to still go into the office despite having a desk position that could be done remotely. That was the beginning of my soul searching. Searching for that career that would give me the autonomy I craved. I didn’t know I yearned to be a Latina Life Coach at the time, but I did know I wanted to be self-employed.
During my 3 years working there, I dove into the self-development world full force. I would wake up 2 hours before work to complete my morning routine and listened to self-development and business podcasts all day during work. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was mentally preparing to become an entrepreneur.
The push I needed
My father started his own business in 2002 when being an entrepreneur wasn’t as popular as it is today. I witnessed him create and evolve his business from scratch for the past 20 years and reach a level of success only he envisioned since his business’ inception. My father is the poverty cycle breaker in my family’s lineage. To this day, I still don’t get how he became a successful business owner considering he lacked a formal education as well as other resources. He’s the true definition of achieving the “American Dream” in my eyes. The man immigrated to America with nothing and created a new world for his family.
It’s safe to say that my dad has had the biggest impact in my life. He is the one that encouraged me to take this leap of faith and pursue my coaching business. I feel so fortunate and privileged to have a father who believes in me just like he believed in himself 20 years ago. He helped me realize that there is no time like the present. He was also the one to call me out on my excuses to not pursue my goals…until now.
Why coaching?
During my self-development journey, I have devoured countless books, podcasts, and content that I’ve always wanted to share with others. At one point I considered going back to school to become a mental health counselor but that didn’t feel in alignment with me. Therapy focuses on the past and I wanted to focus on helping people create their future. Once I discovered the coaching world, I felt the pull that I had never experienced before. I realized I want to help women (particularly Latinas like me) with their self-discovery.
I’ve always enjoyed working directly with people on a one on one basis. My spiritual awakening journey has helped me acknowledge my skills and talents that I was born to share with the world. I truly believe that everything I’ve learned and experienced during my lifetime has brought me to this moment. I’ve learned valuable knowledge from every work position I’ve held, every trip I’ve taken, every friend and relationship I’ve been involved in. Every challenge, hardship, shitty moment, has also shaped me as the Latina life coach I am today.
I’m here to serve Latinas to help them discover the life that is available to them. To assist in giving you the courage and permission to step out of your comfort zone and strive for more because you deserve it. I’m here to guide you to find the answers that have been living inside you for a while. My purpose is to empower you to get out of your own way and create the life waiting for you. Seeing clients have breakthroughs is a feeling I can’t describe. I was born to do this and it is just the beginning.
